Sign documents
Create a signature library, sign documents, and let customers sign from their link.
Add your signature to quotations, invoices and other documents, keep a library of signatures for your team, and let customers sign documents from their link.
To get a contract, an NDA or any other file signed by one or more people, see Get any document signed.
Before you start#
- Anyone who can edit documents can create their own signatures and sign documents.
- Shared signatures, such as a company director's signature everyone may apply, can only be created and removed by owners and admins.
Create a signature#
- Open Settings › Brand and find Signatures.
- Choose Add signature and give it a Name.
- Choose How to make it: Draw it, Upload a scan (PNG, JPG or WebP up to 2 MB, with Clean it up to remove the paper background) or Type it.
- Owners and admins choose who it is Available to: Only me or Everyone in this organization.
- Pick a default Size and save it.
Your own signatures appear under My signatures, and signatures everyone may use under Shared signatures.
Sign a document#
In the editor, select the signature block and choose a Signature from your library. Add a Signer Title, such as "Managing Director", and pick a Signature size of S, M, L or XL, or use the signature's own default.
Editing a signed document#
A signature vouches for the document as it was when it was signed. If you change the signed content afterwards, the signature is marked "Signature no longer valid — document edited on" the date of the change, so nobody mistakes an edited document for the one that was signed. Sign it again after checking the changes.
Removing a signature#
Removing a signature from your library stops it being offered on new documents. Documents already signed with it keep the signature.
Customer signatures#
Your customer can sign a document from their link, by drawing or typing their name, after agreeing to the statement shown. You receive an email when they do, and the document shows who signed and when. See What your customer sees.
